Pravesha - Admissions

We are open to admissions for ages 6 to 12 years for the year 2024-25

Read the information given on this page before sending an admission inquiry.

We hope you have gone through our website which will help in deciding your child's future.

We understand the child's innate interests and capacities, their family backgrounds, and culture in order to advance the child's growth in a non-prototypical environment. Along the way, we as a learning center have understood that it's we, the adults or parents who need this "education" more; to have new learning alongside the child.   It is true, the reflection of that change within a parent or adult is seen in the children.

We are particular that the parents and grandparents along with their child are in sync with the intent of the school, to familiarise the child to bring in unison towards the learning environments.

We look forward to joining hands and working together with parents who believe in their child's potential to grow multi-dimensionally upon seeking admission to our Center.

Before applying...

Parents are requested to read our website thoroughly and understand how we approach education. If you're in sync with our intention of education for your child then you may fill in the enquiry form. Once we receive the enquiry form, we shall email you the details for the admission process along with the admission form, if the age/class criteria are fulfilled. Please send in all documents related to the previous schooling. If the child has been homeschooled then you can mention the same in the form.

Few more pointers

Akshara Manèy ideally invites children over 6 years of age considering we are located away from the city.

Informal interaction between the facilitator and the child along with the parents would be our way of familiarising with each other to understand our Centre's ethos and help the journey of your child begin on a positive note. The details of the same would be intimated at a later date upon fulfilling the initial process.

Children seeking admission for ages 6 onwards will have academic evaluations.

Please send in all documents related to the previous schooling or if the child is homeschooled then you can mention the same in the form.

Submit all medical and assessment reports that are related to your child.

Admissions are however subject to space and differs case to case.

We all eat together freshly cooked vegetarian food, and there is no necessity to bring anything from home for either lunch or snacking while traveling back.

Children who are picky eaters might  find it challenging to adjust initially, however if the parent is willing to work in collaboration with school then its easy for the child to feel at home.

There are no uniforms to wear. Simple cotton kurta and pyjama or Non graphic casual sports Ts and track pants, firmly gripped all weather sandals are good enough to rough it out and bear the weather conditions through the year. Children, teachers and parents are not allowed to wear sleeveless tops or shorts to school or while dropping and picking up children.  Maintaining dress code is mandatory.

On special days and on festivals we shall inform in advance about the dress code which is usually our traditional attire.

We have our annual "Utsava" just before winter break is an exhibition of culture and culmination of art exposure they have had.

"Shraddha Divas" at the end of the academic year, an occasion to show case the academic learnings.

We invite parents for interactions formally twice a year. This is an opportunity to discuss milestones and various progressive paths that their child has taken in that term.

In case of any issues regarding child's behaviour, learning disabilities, autism or ADHD, parents are required to cooperate with school's early intervention requirements.

We would like to share a few common questions that are posed to us during an interaction by prospective parents who could be exploring a different school or come to us solely with the purpose of not being in the rat race of education, yet want to fit their child into the real world at the end of 10-12 years...
1. ...can I visit your school as I am in the vicinity looking around for Alternative schools?
2. ...my child is not able to fit into the current schooling system...the current school suggested that the child be shifted to an alternative school, what type of an alternative school is your?
3. ...I read about alternate schooling, my child is quite not the age but we are already exploring schools and alternative spaces so that by the time my child is 6 years we have decided a school.
4. ....what is the syllabus of your alternative school?
5. ….my child is a slow learner/ has learning disabilities, autistic/ in the autism spectrum. is there an opportunity at your school?
Or you probably are still battling a lot of apprehensions, insecurities and confusions concerning education per-se, including issues such as social pressure, what shall my child do after 10th grade, whether or not my child will fit in with the majority of society, etc. One is free to not fill the form and instead read the FAQs in the website or attend Dialogues based on J. Krishnamurti's philosophy and our Admission Process.

As well intending parents, you could be drawn to Akshara Manèy primarily as an option for an 'alternative' school (with no pressure for reading/ writing) for your children, without delving into its underlying purpose. Upon participating in the orientation, you might discover a disconnect with a few of the concerns. In such a scenario, Akshara Manèy might not be in harmony with your values or your children's requirements.  This realization could lead you to understand that our educational program might not suit your or your children's needs.
